In 1975 Andrew Biggs, of Avon County Public Analyst in Bristol started to sell new and second hand Laboratory Equipment from his garage under the name of Severn Sales.
In 1980 he moved the start up into an three storey terraced warehouse in Moon Street, which was in central Bristol. The business continue to grow and in 1990 moved into an Old Milk Bottling depot in Horfield, Bristol which provided larger warehouseing and offices. In 2000 Severn Sales purchased a plot in Kingswood, Bristol and built a purpose built warehouse.in Lodge Road.
In 2017 both the senior partners were approaching retirement age and put the company on the open market, which led to the business being bought by Solmedia Ltd. The operation was moved 100 miles up the River Servern from Bristol to Shrewsbury where it continued supplying a broader range of new lab equipment to a wide field of laboratories worldwide.
